BEST DOCUMENTARY ($2,000 shared)
Asylum Sandy McLeod, USA
Twin Towers Bill Guttentag and Robert Port, USA

These two documentaries encompass the human condition and the jury wishes to recognize both films for the extraordinary lives they celebrate.

BEST DRAMA ($2,000)
Here Was the Anthem Sergio Umansky, USA/Mexico
For best achievement in drama, all the cinematic elements are fused together to create a paranoid, nightmarish world of its own.

BEST STUDENT ($2,000)
The Trinket-Maker Paul Daley, UK, National Film & Television School
Recognized for its originality in storytelling, animation and music.

BEST SHORT SHORT ($2000)
Hyper Michael Canzoniero and Marco Ricci, USA
The jury does not want to waste time with our reasons for loving this film: it was short, great, and to the point.

In twelve minutes, the director creates a beautifully realized child’s world, riding a razor’s edge between innocence and the complex prejudices of the adult world.

BEST WRITING ($500)

The jury recognizes this film for its writing, for its intense and escalating story between two rivals.

BEST EDITING ($500)

The jury recognizes the editing of this film, for artfully bringing to life a forgotten world.

MOST INNOVATIVE ($500)

The jury recognizes this film for telling a timeless "boy meets girl" story with a keen, out-of-kilter eye.

SPECIAL JURY RECOGNITION ($500 each)

A Ninja Pays Half My Rent Steven Tsuchida, USA

The jury wishes to name two films for special recognition for making us laugh. I Used to Be a Filmmaker – we are waiting to see Ella follow in her father’s footsteps and anxiously await her Aspen debut in 2021.And A Ninja Pays Half My Rent – the moral is: have a ninja on your next short movie; he can pay half the rent and assist in unforeseen ways."
